Taj Mahal - The Symbol of Love


India is well known for monument attractions, The Taj Mahal is one of them. It is a mausoleum situated in Agra built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in sweet memory of his lovable wife, Mumtaz. So its also known as Mumtaz Mahal. The Seven Wonders of World include the Great Wall of China, Mexicos Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, Machu Pichu in Peru, the Colosseum in Rome, Brazils statue of Christ and Jordan's Petra. But these are incomplete without Taj Mahal. India got a great pride by Taj Mahal which is a Symbol of Love .It show the deep love of a great ruler for his beloved wife. Taj Mahal has a amazing , perceptive and marvelousness structure, if any poet find this wonderful place he could not stop to write his feelings in the kind of stunning poem about spirits of love. In the night, the Taj wears its natural beauty when the silver bight light comes moon collapse on the snowy silver marble of the vault. In the daylight the sparkle of the sun fall on it or shows a glimmering beauty and the shining radiance of sunset also mixed with its luminosity or make it more inspirational. This seventh wonder of the world attracts the visitors with its amazing beauty. It offers many wonderful looks at every time like in the morning it give Pinkish look, in the evening it looks like a milky white and during the it turn into golden beauty .It is believed that the change in colors shows the varies moods of a woman.

History : Shah Jahan was garanted with the title of “the King of World” as the head of his miltary victories by his father Jehangir. He was the fifth son of Jehangir. Mumtaj Mahal shows the natural beauty of the queen and compare it into the heaven lights. The queen Mumtaj wad died in 1630 during the birth of her fourteenth son, she got a promise from his hunband Sahan Jahan to establish a most beautiful sepulcher in the world in the deep memory of their true love. So that this mausoleum was established in Agra.The Taj Mahal is believed that a great example of Mughal architecture,its style includes all elements from Ottoman , Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. The Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and famous as the jewel of Muslim art in India .Agra famous as great city when the Lodhi Kings came and made Agra city as its capital. After the period of Lodhis, the Mughals came here and bulit a new epoch . Agra extent to its peak during the period of Akbar, Shah Jahan and his father Jehangir. During the Akbar's period Agra became the center of culture ,art and commerce. This movement spread over its heightest level when Shah Jahan became the monarch . Between the 16th and 17th century the Taj Mahal a symbol of love, was established after the hard efforts of 22 years.

Construction : This monument is constructed from snowy marble mixed with red sandstone,crystal ,jade or jasper and sapphire . Taj Mahal is situated on the bank of Jamuna river about 1.5 KM from the Agra Fort . Its construction started in 1632 and finished in 1648. The construction cost of this monument is near about 32 Million Rupees and twenty thousand laborers were employed to established this vault. A symbol of love was decorated by Ustad Ahmad Lahauri and Amanat Khan Shirazi, the tombstone were developed by Poet Ghyasuddin, the dome designed by Ismail Khan Afridi in this wonder . The monument stands with four towers at each of the corners having the height of 41.6 m . These minarets provide a protection to this tomb in the occurance of an earthquake .The central vault having a height of 187 feet and made up of white marble or decorated with flowers . The four rooms in the corners were houses the royal family members and left side of Taj Mahal there are two Mosques made up of sand stone were used for Friday prayers. The right side Mosque is known as Jawab . Outside of this Mosque there are beautiful gardens, fountains and ornate trees . Today Agra is famous as a major tourist attraction in India.

How to reach Taj Mahal

By Air: Indian Airlines runs regular flights from Delhi to Agra. The nearest international airport 203 km away from it at Delhi. Kheria Airport is about 6 km from the Agra city and is easily approachable by taxis and autos at affordable rates.
By Rail: Agra has a well connectivity by excellent train services to Delhi such as The Shatabdi Express , Intercity Express and Taj Express. The closest railway station is Agra cantonment.
By Road: It is well connected to other parts of India by road. The excilent service of Express bus are also available from Jhansi, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Gwalior. It is situated 58km from Mathura. Tourist cabs are also available at reasonable rates.
